Today is World Rabies Day. The theme for this year is ‘End Rabies: Collaborate, Vaccinate’. India constitutes 36% of the rabies deaths in the entire world. This is a major health problem that needs more attention. There is no effective cure once the symptoms of rabies sets in humans. It is 100% fatal once the symptoms occur. 99% of the rabies cases occur from domestic dogs.
