An academic seminar was held on 28th September 2021, to observing World Rabies Day at the Faculty of Veterinary Science (FVS), Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The blended seminar on 'Rabies Control in Bangladesh: Sharing Facts and Dispelling the Myths" was dedicated to promoting this year's theme "Rabies: Facts, not Fear" and moving forward to eliminate human deaths from dog rabies by 2030. Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Hadi Noor Ali Khan, Professor of Veterinary Pathology, BAU delivered the keynote presentation focusing on rabies status in Bangladesh, its feasible control approaches, and misconceptions that general people have about rabies. Prof. Dr. Md. Aminul Islam, Head of the Department of Medicine, BAU moderated the technical session. Prof. Dr. Lutful Hassan, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of BAU delivered an encouraging speech as the Chief Guest and appreciated the efforts of the academic staff of the Faculty of Veterinary Science in minimizing the number of rabies led death in animals and as well as in humans. Prof. Dr. Shyamal Kumar Paul, Principal, Netrokona Medical College emphasized having strong collaboration between veterinary and medical professionals to end the rabies cases in Bangladesh in his speech as a special guest. Prof. Dr. Mokbul Hossain, Dean, FVS presided over the session and emphasized increasing public awareness about zoonotic rabies in his closing remark. Participants interacted with different rabies-related queries, myths, and misconceptions during the open discussion session.
