Rabies vaccination exercise

The Liberia Animal Welfare & Conservation Society (LAWCS) has always been an active promoter of rabies elimination in Liberia. This year celebration will focus on massive public awareness in schools and communities in Kolba City, Kolahun District follow by free vaccination of dogs and cats in the city. 

 

LAWCS held a wonderful World Rabies Day celebration with a week long public awareness and education about rabies, means of transmission and its prevention. The awareness program was conducted in 36 schools with over 3,000 children and 20 communities with over 2000 members. The program educated the children and community members about rabies, its means of transmission and prevention. The celebration was climaxed with free rabies vaccination exercise with 500 dogs and cats in Kolba City, Kolahun District, Lofa County, Liberia. LAWCS also participated in the national celebration by partnering with the ministries of Agriculture, Health, National Public Health Institute of Liberia and other partners to vaccine additional 750 dogs and cats in Voinjama and Foya Cities.
