WORLD RABIES DAY 2019.

In commemoration of World rabies day 2019, the Algerian Veterinary Medical Association, this is an effort to meet global campaign of eliminating rabies deaths by 2030, the AVMA has organized a free vaccination of dogs from 28th September to 1st October at three different centres within Sokoto metropolis, the centres are: Veterinary clinic, Veterinary teaching hospital, City campus and Veterinary clinic.

 

World Rabies Day is the first and only global day of action and awareness for rabies prevention. It is the initiative of Global Alliance for Rabies Control. It was initiated in 2007 to create global opportunity for people to focus on rabies prevention. The day is celebrated annually on 28th September, this year's theme is RABIES : VACCINATE TO PROTECT.

 

Rabies is a serious but fairly rare disease. It is a virus transmitted to humans through an infected animal's saliva. Rabies is almost always fatal if left untreated. Rabies is both prevented and treated with a rabies vaccine. Therefore, general public are advised to bring their dogs to any of the three designated centres
