REPORT OF WORLD RABIES DAY CELEBRATION – 2021
29/09/2021 - Interaction with final yr MBBS students of Mahathma Gandhi Medical College, Pondicherry
We had an offline interactive session on rabies by Pediatricians Dr Rathisharmila and Dr Ilamaran on the forenoon of 29/09/2021 involving the final year medical students of Mahathma Gandhi medical College, Pondicherry, on the problem and prevention of rabies. The students had quite a lot of doubts and questions on rabies prevention and treatment, which were duly addressed. In the end they got sensitized towards the problem of Rabies.
29/09/2021 - Interaction with staff nurses of MGMCRI
We had a offline seminar by Dr Rathisharmila on rabies in afternoon of 29/09/2021 and we sensitized the nursing faculty of MGMCRI on the problem and prevention of rabies, as nurses are the first line of healthcare contact. They pledged to take the information to the community level and families.
01/10/2021 - Outreach activity to community in a PHC
We conducted an outreach activity on 01/10/2021 in the near-by government run PHC in Kirumambakkam. The program was co-ordinated by Dr. Ragasivamalini (Assistant Professor, Pediatrics) and Dr Sengathir (Assistant Professor, Community medicine). Dr Kalaivani (Assistant Professor, Pediatrics), Dr Suginder (Final year Post-graduate, Pediatrics) and Dr Sengathir, educated the adults and children about the importance of dog vaccination, seeking immediate health care facility for vaccination/immunoglobulin.
