On September 28th, 2021, the Vet Tech Student Association at Universidad Ana G. Méndez-Ponce will hold an event to participate in the global movement to end the unnecessary suffering caused by rabies around the world.

As Veterinary Technology students, our goal is to raise awareness about rabies prevention and to help reduce rabies transmission in both animals and humans.

During World Rabies Day 2021, the following events will be held within our student community:

• Train and Certify Marathon: Our community was informed about the free certification alternatives offered online by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC), as well as how these training opportunities will better prepare our students upon graduation and help us give back to the community.

Massive Rabies Vaccination for Pets Event - Ponce, PR:  This year, our veterinary technology student organization will join forces with the Department of Health, Animal Rescue and Protection Services and the City of Ponce to make rabies vaccinations available to pets owned by low-income families. We will hold a vaccination marathon so that our students and licensed professionals can continue to raise awareness about this deadly virus.

• Social Media Awareness: For World Rabies Day 2021, we will publish weekly online content to help raise awareness and visibility among our online community.
