Have-a-Heart

Namibia is a large country, and it has been estimated that less than 30 % of the population have direct access to veterinary care. Long distances between towns, limited options for public transport and finances often mean many pets live their whole lives without getting the veterinary care and attention needed to protect not only the animals but also the people from dangerous illnesses contracted by close contact with sick animals.

Have-a-Heart Mobile makes use of the newly built Mobile Animal Clinic of Baines VetCare CC, and travels across Namibia providing free spay/neuter and vaccination services to dogs and cats of low and no income remote communities.

Every animal sterilised by Have-a-Heart Mobile is given a full set of vaccinations, including the important rabies vaccination. Working in low/no income communities means they are the only chance of help for these animals - most towns they are working in do not have a resident private veterinarian.

Additionally, they provide rabies and dog bite education to the community members, especially focusing on younger community members.
