School pupils excited after getting educated about rabies and given note books with rabies fact on the cover page

Schools in which children of 15 years and below were visited majorly within the communities in Kaduna State where rabies outbreaks occurred. Note books were shared to children. On the back of the notebooks was the lovely rabies cartoon we obtained  from the GARC Website. Pre and post-awareness questionnaire administration were done. Certificates of participation were given to teachers at various schools as they were specially educated also and given materials to encourage them to keep reiterating what was taught to the kids during the campaign.

We also shared pamphlets to the kids for their parents and Posters to the class representatives and pasted on notice boards in all schools visited. As the various War Against Rabies Nigeria Teams walk and/or drive to the next assigned school, pamphlets with information on rabies transmission, prevention, clinical signs in animals and symptoms in humans etc in both English and the common Hausa dialect are shared and some people on the street ask questions and answers were given to further enlighten them about rabies.

This children/public enlightenment took place on the 28th September to 3rd October, 2017. The enlightenment was planned to precede the dog ecology and mass dog vaccination targeted for the later part of this year in 4Local Government Areas of Zaria Kaduna State Nigeria.
