What is GARC doing to eliminate rabies globally?
As opposed to having our own large international teams working in countries, GARC supports governments, international organizations, civil society (other NGOs) and communities to drive their own rabies elimination in a sustainable, cost-effective manner. This is done by providing specialized tools, expert advice, and technical assistance – ensuring that every dollar is used for maximum impact.
Regional collaboration
To foster regional collaboration and address the transboundary nature of rabies, as well as introduce and train governments and partners on the use of our tools, GARC formed three regional rabies control networks, namely:
Global Policy
In addition, we support and drive global policy, including activities like the End Rabies Now campaign that resulted in the development of the Global Strategic Plan. We were integral to the development of the Global Strategic Plan: Zero by 30 and will continue to work towards rabies elimination based on this plan and in collaboration with all willing and interested people, from individuals in communities to major international organizations.
