Faculty members and post graduates students of VPHE, LUVAS looking for people who are regularly feeding stray dogs in the University campus

Its customary in India to feed stray and domiciliated animals and birds as a religious activity or just being a good deed. Many people from Hisar city have habit of feeding the stray dogs, birds, monkeys and small insects while in the university campus usually during morning hours. However, this act of kindness might be responsible for increase in the stray dog population in the campus. Since stray dogs are most responsible for Human rabies, this also increases the risk for students, employees and residents of the campus.

In view of this the awareness campaign was carried out to educate such peoples about the risk of rabies, its prevention methods. They were encouraged to arrange vaccination of stray dogs in their area and were also motivated to adopt stray dogs. Post graduate students and faculty members of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology department distributed the pamphlets to people and motivated them eradicate this disease from Hisar city.
