The JCI Kagayhaan Gold with the Grade 5 learners and teachers of Macabalan Elementary School.

The Mission SNR+ is one of the projects under the JCI Kagayhaan Gold's Tails of Hope- a Tatak KG program on animal welfare (a flagship program of JCI Kagayhaan Gold) which was established during the local celebration of World Rabies Day last 28th of September 2021with them theme "Rabies: Fact, or Fear" in partnership with the City Veterinary Office of Cagayan de Oro.

On the 6th of July 2023, a Mission SNR+ Year 03 was conducted at Brgy Macabalan, Cagayan De Oro City in collaboration with the Brgy. Macabalan, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro through the City Veterinary Office together with Macabalan Elementary School, and various private and other government offices. The program served 38 cats and 62 dogs for spaying and neutering and vaccinated 351 pets from Barangay Macabalan at the brgy. covered court with City Veterinary Office taking the lead in surgical operation and vaccination. Alongside, pet care support was rendered through the following project partners- AvliBiocare, FanFreluche, Maxime Philippines and distributed 1,000 supplements (multivitamins, minerals), and petfood , with a number of pet parents availed pet nutrition consultation with the animal nutrition specialist.

Information and Education sessions on rabies and its prevention, bite prevention and management, and responsible pet ownership were implemented at Macabalan Elementary School attended by 320 grade 5 pupils, 10 teachers, and 20 parents- it served as a great reminder before the midyear break. The Information and Education Campaign instilled in the learners practices to avoid bites and scratches from pets and be ambassadors and reduce rabies infection, expanding the understanding of responsible pet ownership. A shorter version of the 1.5-hour interactive session was completed at the spay, neuter, and rabies vaccination site of more than 700 pet owners and locals while they are waiting for their pets.

JCI Kagayhaan Gold is indebted to all the partners who supported the program.

Together, we will achieve a zero-rabies case in the city with a community of pet-friendly and responsible pet owner kagay-anons.
