Govt of Karnataka state department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary services and the faculty of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar educational institutions, Robertson pet, Kolar district, India organized a World Rabies Day event at the school premises on 26th September 2023.
Dr. Tulasi Ganga Ramaiah, the Deputy Director of the department of animal husbandry kolar district , Dr. Rajasekhar, the deputy director of veterinary poly clinic, kolar, a host of chief veterinary officers, past deputy directors of animal husbandry, the principal and staff of high school about 250 students and their parents , and personnel of the animal husbandry department and general public attended the event.
The gathering held a brief rally in the streets of Robertson pet shouting slogans and displaying banners depicting "We are together for Rabies elimination" "Let us end rabies together" "Rabies has no cure but preventable" both in English and Kannada languages.
A brief educative lecture and informative interactive session was held in the school premises by Dr. Nidaghatta Gangadhar a senior scientist (zoonosis) Dr. Gangadhar in his lecture briefly highlighted the sever infective nature of rabies, mode of its transmission, its symptoms and how school going children were in the high risk group. he also explained the role of Global Alliance for Rabies Control in coordinating the global efforts to prevent deaths.
The gathering took an oath to spread the message of GARC to achieve ZERO RABIES DEATHS BY 2030.
