REC and AVC training in Lesotho

In our last update on REC (Rabies Educator Certificate), there was one proud graduate of the course in Lesotho. We are delighted to say that following a workshop last week there are now a total of 14.

And the number of people who have received the AVC (Animal Handling and Vaccination Certificate) in the country has gone from zero to 10.

This rapid increase is due to a workshop we held at the Central Veterinary Laboratory last week. A

As part of the workshop, we were able to take AVC candidates an afternoon excursion to actually vaccinate some dogs in the community. Daniel Stewart helped with this, making sure the AVC course material was applied correctly and that the animals were vaccinated humanely.

Thank you to all who took part – please keep in touch and share your experiences of rabies prevention and dog vaccination with us.

If you’re thinking about getting involved in an animal vaccination programme, the AVC is a free course to give you a grounding in how to approach and handle animals safely education.rabiesalliance.org
