Special Research Topic dedicated to rabies

  • Community News

In December 2015, a global meeting launched a framework to deliver the strategic vision of an end to human deaths from rabies by 2030, which is supported by the End Rabies Now campaign.

To continue the momentum, a Frontiers Journal Research Topic has been created to bring together contributions on the control and elimination of canine mediated human rabies. Fitting the One Health theme, papers published in the journals Frontiers in Medicine, Public Health, Veterinary Sciences or Microbiology will be gathered together into a special issue.

It is entitled ‘Towards Elimination of Dog Mediated Human Rabies’ and will aim to publish a variety of research articles including epidemiological, educational, policy-related and economic aspects of dog and human rabies surveillance, implementation of control strategies in dogs and humans and scientific documentation of success. Demonstrations of the benefit of cross sectoral “One Health” approaches are welcome.

Further information is available on the Frontiers website here. The deadline for submitting abstracts is June 15th, and for submitting full papers it is October 1st.
