
On the occasion of World Rabies Day 2024, commemorated every year on September 28th, lectures on awareness, prevention and control of rabies were organised in the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Rewa, Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University(NDVSU), Jabalpur, M.P., India under the guidance of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr.) Mandeep Sharma. A total of 300 veterinary students and over 20 faculties participated in the programme. Lectures were delivered by the faculties on rabies virus, transmission, prevention, control, and international and national approaches to eliminate rabies from Indian by 2030. Around 50 pet dogs and 20 stray dogs were vaccinated on this occasion and the pet owners were informed about the precaution to be taken in case of dog bites. The Dean of the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Rewa, Dr. A. P. Singh while addressing the participants stressed the importance of Global and National efforts to eradicate rabies from country. He also discussed about the meaning of this year’s World Rabies Day theme: “Breaking Rabies boundaries”. The other programmes likely to be organised by the College on the occasion of World Rabies Day are: Road Show by the Veterinary Students, Group Discussion among the students for achieving zero death in India due to dog-mediated rabies and distribution of leaflets and folders to the general public.
