Under the guidance of Dr. J. Barathalakshmi, Professor and Head of Community Medicine, SVMCH&RC, a Health awareness Programme was planned for World Rabies Day for school students in UHTC (Villianur) and RHTC (Valavanur).
Activity:
September 28 is World Rabies Day, a global health observance started in 2007 to raise awareness about the world’s deadliest infectious disease. While rabies is a 100% preventable disease, nearly 60,000 people die from the disease around the world each year. World Rabies Day is an opportunity to reflect on our efforts to control this deadly disease and remind ourselves that the fight against rabies is not yet over. This year’s theme adds the additional layer of highlighting the need for collaboration, the importance of equality, and strengthening overall health systems by ensuring that One Health is not for a select few but is rather something that should be available to everyone.

Thus, to create awareness among school children about Rabies and importance of Vaccination the programme was organized on 05.10.2023 & 06.10.2023 in the school campus. Welcome address was given by Medical Officer Dr. Theeran and Dr. Jayashri in Villianur and Valavanur schools respectively.
