On October 30 2022, The Japanese society of clinical study for rabies (JSCSR) will hold an online seminar on canine rabies vaccination status in Japan during COVID-19.

The last animal rabies case was reported in 1957 in Japan, since then, the Rabies Prevention Law has been mandating all domestic dogs to get annual rabies vaccinations. Each municipality conducted mass dog vaccination (MDV) at public spaces until 2019, however, efficient MDV implementations got difficult due to COVID-19 pandemic. This online seminar aims to review MDV's situation during COVID-19 in Japan and discuss future strategies for rabies prevention measures in a rabies-free country.
