Vets Care Club is Non-Profitable and Non-Government Organisation that is working under the aim of Animal Welfare and for enhancing Veterinary services in Pakistan. With the concept of One Health Vets Care Club is working passionately for the Animal Welfare and Human welfare also. On this Rabies Day 2022. We are going to arrange Free Vaccination Camps and Awareness seminars at Uvas, Lums and FC College Lahore. With aim of providing Free Rabies Vaccination to Humans and Animals and spreading Awareness about its Zoonotic and Public Health aspects.
2020:
From more than 16 years Vets Care Club is working for the betterment of Veterinary Profession, Animal Health and Welfare. Every year on the 28th of September, “World Rabies Day” is celebrated to highlight its importance and preventive measures. Vets Care Club also celebrated Rabies Awareness Week in 2020, starting with a Workshop, under guidance of Dr. Hafiz M. Ismail from Pet Center, UVAS, who also played a part in Rabies Free Lahore. Students were given guidance on how to administer rabies vaccine in animals and a practical application was also carried out on dogs from SPCA, Lahore.
On the 27th and 28th of September 2020, a free vaccination camp was arranged in collaboration with Ghazi Brothers and Saadat International, at Pet Center, UVAS. More than a hundred animals were vaccinated on both days combined. On 28th September 2020, Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmed, Vice Chancellor UVAS led the Awareness Walk and inaugurated the second day of the free vaccination camp. Many people registered their pets for the free vaccination through our social media pages and many visiting the Pet Center also took this opportunity to get their pets vaccinated.
The theme for this year’s Rabies Day was “End Rabies: Collaborate, Vaccinate” which was put to practice in the form of the above events by Vets Care Club. The efforts of Team VCC were also recognized and appreciated by the “Global Alliance for Rabies Control.”
2021:
Vets Care Club organized a 2 day free Rabies vaccination desk at Pet Centre UVAS, on 29th and 30th September 2021. The event started with a Rabies awareness walk at 9:00 am on 29th September 2021. Worthy Vice Chancellor UVAS, Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad led the walk from Vice Chancellor office to Pet Centre, UVAS. After the walk Prof. Dr. Nasim inaugurated the event by formal ribbon cutting ceremony and then he vaccinated the first cat. The vaccination was done in order to prevent animals from the dangerous Rabies disease. All the vaccines were administered free of cost to both cats and dogs above the age of 3 months. Many people brought their pets and got them vaccinated against the vicious disease. Moreover they were also given Rabies Awareness booklets to make them thoroughly understand about the disease and its prevention.
Most of the animals were vaccinated for the first time and we hope that they get the booster shot as well. The vaccinated animals were tied with a red ribbon around their necks as a sign that they are now vaccinated against the menacing Rabies disease. Altogether the event was a huge success and all the owners were immensely satisfied with the services given to them by the team of Vets Care club. The event was successfully wrapped up at 4:00 pm PKT on 30th September, 2021 and we all were able to vaccinate more than 70 animals. We thank our sponsors, teachers and patrons for guiding us through and collaborating with us to make this event immensely successful.
