In 2018, Liberia observe World Rabies Day characterized by health education, sensitization and awareness for young people in and out of school; held live appearances on local radio station - called-in-talk shows were held beginning 25 - 27 September 2018.

A Press Conference was held with the local media (print and electronic) on 27 September 2018 at the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL). Follow-up activities include a round table discussion on 28 September 2018 with theme "Rabies: Share the message. Save a life" discussion will be held with the focus on highlighting the importance of creating awareness and educating to prevent rabies at human and animal interface - a movement towards global effort to achieve zero death by 2030. Presenters at the round table conference are Ministers of Health and Agriculture beginning at 10:10 am - 1:30 pm.

There will be dog vaccination in two counties (Montserrado and Margibi) with five selected sites in the country (4 - Montserrado and 1 - Margibi).

The event is held under the One Health Coordination Platform Framework, a multi-sectorial approach involving the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, National Public Health Institute of Liberia, Environmental Protection Agency, Forestry Development Authority, National Disaster Management Agency and partners.
