World Rabies Day 2016 in Orange Farms is focused on Rabies prevention from a One Health perspective where Human, Animal and Environmental health will be addressed.

The campaign begins one week before the main event (28 Sept) where Free Rabies vaccinations will be done in the surrounding community as well as school visits with Basic Rabies Prevention information.

The Monday and Tuesday (26-27 Sept) we will be hosting a small sterilization campaign at the event venue for animals of low-income households. The sterilizations will be done in partnership with PDSA, an animal welfare organization active in the area.

The Event itself on Wednesday 28 September we will be hosting a conglomerate of various stakeholders who together will be promoting Rabies Prevention and control from a One Health Perspective.

Present on the day, to name a few will be Gauteng Department of Agriculture Veterinary Services, South African Red Cross, City of JHB Community Development, Gauteng Department of Health, University of Pretoria, NSPCA, South African Veterinary Association Community Veterinary Clinics, Highveld Horsecare Unit, Pug Rescue SA and Zoetis Animal Health.
