Photo taken at one of the several spots we stopped - included all the people who helped us organise, record, educate, hold animals, hand out pet food and of course vaccinate against rabies!

For WORLD RABIES DAY, Naankuse Wildlife Foundation (Dr Lyndsay Scott), together with the support of the Epukiro State Veterinary Department (Dr Veii), have organised and advertised a community outreach rabies vaccination campaign in the communal farming areas and villages surrounding Epukiro and Okatuuo.

All animal species will be targeted - companion animals such as dogs and cats, but also livestock such as sheep, goats and donkeys. Pet food parcels kindly donated by Naankuse Wildlife Foundation will be handed out to all pet owners that bring their pets for vaccinations. Anti-tick - Dectomax or Frontline - will also be administered to promote animal health.

International vet nursing volunteers from Australia and international vet students from Germany will be joining the campaign - this is not only to provide a hands-on education on rabies and much-needed prevention, but also promotes capacity building for international volunteers and we are also better able to support the communal communities as more vaccination teams can be designed and more people and animals can be reached.
