Marking World Rabies Day 2024 - Laikipia County
On 28th September 2024, We join other Rabies control champions worldwide in marking World Rabies Day and highlighting the importance of controlling canine rabies a dangerous but preventable viral disease.
The day will have the County Government of Laikipia Veterinary Department team join up with the Laikipia Rabies Vaccination Campaign team from Mpala Research Center and representatives from the County Government of Laikipia Ministry of Health at Baraka (a suburb of Nanyuki town).
We will then carry out:
- Rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats - FREE OF CHARGE.
- Awareness of rabies prevention in domestic animals, humans, and wildlife.
- Educating community members on dog bites first-aid.
- Ideas exchange on dog bite prevention.
- Highlighting ideas on how to deal with 'stray dogs' (a significant enabler of rabies spread).
- Free advice/consultation on pets' welfare issues.
Rabies is preventable, let us take action to control its spread and save lives.
