Rabies Introduction to Vet Students

This year Centre for One Health Research & Promotion (COHRP) collaborated with students from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Sciences (IAAS) in Paklihawa, Nepal to celebrate a week-long "Rabies Week" from September 22nd to September 28th, 2023, in commemoration of World Rabies Day. To address this issue, we conducted a series of awareness and vaccination programs in a rural Paklihawa district of Nepal, where the veterinary college is located. Consequently, to raise rabies awareness we conducted awareness programmes among secondary school students in grades 8, 9, and 10 through lectures on rabies at local schools. Additionally, we devised an innovative "table tennis tournament" among the students as a unique way to promote rabies awareness. This event has never been conducted in Nepal and was the highlight of World Rabies Day. Furthermore, we p administered mass rabies vaccinations for dogs and delivered in-depth technical lectures on rabies at the veterinary school.
